The RYAs Inland Waterways Helmsmans Course can be run by Training Centres on the inland waterways of the UK or Europe.

Full details of our requirements for running these courses can be found in the documents below. A brief summary is as follows:

-The Principal or nominated Chief Instructor must be an RYA Inland Waterways Helmsmans Instructor;

-Yours training boat(s) must have a current Boat Safety Certificate (UK centres only);

-An application for recognition must be sent to the RYA details who your instructor(s) will be, where you will run courses from and on which boat(s);

-An inspection visit will be arranged in order to check your boat(s) suitability, maintenance and cleanliness, and your centres administration and operating procedures.

When our Inspector is happy that your centre complies withRYA requirements, a report will be submitted to recommend that recognition should be granted.Recognition is then granted by the RYA, at which time you will receive confirmation through the post and may start running and promoting our courses.
