Participants in the RYA's cruising programmes come from many different backgrounds and have diverse aspirations. Instructors therefore need a multitude of skills which they can adapt to the type of boat and the strengths and weaknesses of their students.

The first step in teaching within our scheme is to become qualified as a Cruising Instructor, before moving up to the Yachtmaster Instructor qualification. Both qualifications can be taken in sail and motor cruisers, and your certificate will be endorsed accordingly.

Prior to any Cruising Instructor training you will need to be a commercially endorsed Yachtmaster Offshore.
