Exam requirements

Before booking your exam, please ensure that you can fulfil all the requirements in terms and pre-exam experience and seatime, and the type of boat and its equipment.

An exam application form can be downloaded from the link above. It must be completed and given to your examiner at start of your exam, along with copies of your supporting certificates, photograph and payment.

Exams within the UK
Please use the online booking system which can be reached via the relevant link below for the exam you wish to take.

Exams outside the UK
Exams outside the UK must be organised through an RYA training centre recognised for practical cruising courses or advanced powerboat courses (as appropriate). The centre must notify the RYA of any exams outside the UK and the location must be approved by the RYA.
